screen goes black the back to desktop

when ever i try to play freelancer the screen goes black for about a second or two then it goes back to desktop then it asks me to send an error report.

What sort of system are you running, and if you file said error report - what does the page say the issue is from Microsofts end? (I find that sometimes it really does help to file those reports, as it can provide information as to your drivers being out of date etc).
