Crash during system jumps

Alright, I'm running a modified eMachines with a Pentium 4 2.6 Ghz processor, a GeForce FX 5900, and a gig of PC2700 DDR RAM. My Freelancer is version 1.0, and I'm running it through the Mod Manager with version 3.40 of the Freelancer Rebalance mod.

Now, here's the problem. Everytime I use a jump gate to change systems, my computer crashes. I have NO idea what the problem is. The game says it doesn't recognize my video card when I start it up, but I don't think that has to do with it. After my computer crashes after the system jump, it says the system has recovered from a serious error, and it gives me that "Send Error Report" bull****, which Windows just tells me to update my Processor's BIOS, which after hours of trying, I have deemed impossible.

Has anyone else gotten this weird crash thing, and do you know how to solve it? As you might be able to guess, it puts a serious hamper on my playing.

I am experiencing the same issue. I get a 2 second buzz noise then my computer reboots, jumping from system to system. The Microsoft error report I get says it is a Driver issue. At one time I received a message about the cause being a sound driver issue. ( I have not seen that message in awhile).
I have done the different types of troubleshooting listed on this website and used other metheods explained here too. I thought I had it fixed when I got the "Freelancer does not reconize your video card" to go away.
I am using a Radeon X600pro card with a 3.40Ghz processor, 512Mb Ram.
Let me know if you hear anything about this problem. I have uninstalled all the drivers at onetime and used recommended ones for ATI products from other sites. I have since reinstalled ATI drivers and have sent them a inquiry to tech support and am awaiting to hear from them.

To quote Chips in a sticky above,

IF you find your game crashing (and you haven't been using mods at ALL), then please go to your options in the game menu - and disable 3D sound.

This includes:
If your computer restarts at random
Your Computer restarts when going through jumpgates
Game crashes to desktop when going through jumpgates
Game crashes to desktop whilst playing normally.

If you ever have the option to "Send report to Microsoft" after your computer "recovers from a serious failure" - then take it. It may diagnose your problem (I had one for months, finally they updated the page accordingly, as SBLive had created a NEW driver. The old one caused crashes with Windows XP!!) - since then, no blue screens of death.... so give it a try

My apologies, I did not see the sticky. So far it seems to work. My son (7) will be happy now as we play on-line one night a week for doing well in school. He is getting pretty good. Thank you for helping me.
