Installation Error

I'm trying to do a clean install of Freelancer, and it freezes up at 11% telling me that a file is in use or something....anyone have this problem before and know how to fix it?

Thanks.

Howdy,

Fraid I have never heard of this error at all, but I would assume it must be due to read problems with the CD. Does it have any visible scratching on the surface, or is it damaged at all? If its always at that point.....

Sarpedon,

what OS are you using? And was the game already installed before?

Hi,

The problem was with the disc. It had some gunk stuck on it which was causing problems. After I cleaned it off things went smoothly.

Thanks everyone. I guess the problem is always something so simple you never think to check it!

Good to hear that, even better that you told us what happened.

The funny thing is, your disk was dirty and the OS issued an error saying a file is in use. That's not exactly what I would call a sign of reliability. Well... I'd _really_ like to know which OS you were using..

I'm using XP, of course! :p

I have a Mac I do all my important stuff on, though.
