Reboot when using Jumpgates

Most of the times I use a jumpgate my computer reboots itself. I have tried reinstalling the game several times, even in new clean directories. I didnt have the problem at all before, but then poof it was there... Im not running any mod at all, and I read in another post that you should use freelancer SDK (not sure of what that is) but it said something about mods too, so I figure it has something to do with them...
Anyone know a sollution to this?
BTW, when reinstalling the game I removed everything exept save files, if I need to remove those too I would gladly sacrifice them...

Edit: My system specs are P4 2.4 ghz, 1024 mb RAM, G-force FX 5700 256 mb ram (with latest drivers) Using Windows XP

I would recommend that you uninstall completely, as I have never heard of this issue for vanilla (unmodded) FL at all. I have heard of it with mods of course, hence the uninstall (complete).

Did as you said, complete uninstall... still no luck Forgot to add before that after the computer reboots I get a message saying "Your computer has recovered from a serious problem" (something like that), dunno if it helps figuring it out tho...

After reading around a bit I've found others with the same problem, and they don't seem to have found any solution to it... Am seriously thinking of reformatting my harddrive now, that is the only thing that I know of that would help. Sure it's not fun, but if it makes it possible to play FL it is definetly worth it

Hmm, I had issues with my comp with that sort of thing - first was a dying motherboard, and second was dying memory..........

I replaced both of course (bout a month between them) and its all working fine once more

Well that might be it, a friend of mine had a similar problem with his computer rebooting. But that could happen anytime, and my problem ONLY involves Freelancers jump gates Im not having any other problems regarding reboots or Freelancer... Im going to do a clean on my harddrive now (reformatting), I really hope it helps

With computers, often the best cure is to kill the patient. Before you do though, if it's not too late, try redownloading Direct X from MS's site (not windows update). Open "run" the type "dxdiag" (without quotes) and see if you have errors there. Just sounds suspiciously like a corrupted DX file.

Edit: Just had the same thing happen. Ran SDK 1.3 and it stopped. Download SDK 1.3 (in downloads section) install and run it. Then try again. Worked for me, and I am using mods.

*slams his head at the keyboard* DOH! Wish I'd read that earlier Just reformatted Anyway, will keep that about the SDK in mind if it happens again though. About the DXdiag, I tried it and it showed no errors Well Im gonna install the game and try it now, wish me luck

havin` the same problem.
Installed SDK and the unofficial patch and still nothin`.
Guesing the problem is the fx5700 card, after rebooting i`m getting a message about the windows minidump error which means that there is a problem with the graphics driver.
Of course changing the driver didn`t help :

Blubber, stop hitting yourself. It's still happening on my system. I ran SDK and it worked, once. Then next jump gate it rebooted. I uninstalled, deleted save games, reinstalled, ran SDK, activated Tie Mod, and crashed on the first jumpgate. Guess it's time for me to format and start over. Gawd, I hate doing that! However, I haven't done it for about 6 months, so I guess it's time. Having trouble with other games too. Just hope it's not the vid card. Radeon 9700 pro, amazing graphics, and wasn't cheap. I've had it for about 2 years now. This just started happening. I've been running FL since it's beta days, and never had this issue before. I wonder if a security update from MS might be the cause, one never knows.

One last hope, I'm going to try a system restore point from about two weeks ago and see if that'll do it. Otherwise, it's format time...... (yuck)
