No one will HELP me. Im new and cant connect

ive had freelancer for a while and now would like to play online multi-player.
Im connected to the internet, i load freelancer and select multi player. 1st it asks LAN or internet ? (ive tried both but dont really know what this means). It then loads a screen that shows what i can only guess should be a list of servers of which im supposed to select 1. There is a message saying "connecting to worldwide server......." this doesnt connect to anything. so the server list remains empty. Please what am i doing wrong ? has there been a change from i bought the game ? If u can help or advise i would appreaciate if u explained in idiot terms . Thanks Eric

Try allowing the Freelancer.exe file for your firewall. If you have XP and service pack 2...then XP now has its own firewall included which you will have to configure. To do this utilise your documentation that came with the firewall, and also use the documentation on the Freelancer CD.

By the way, more than a little presumptious to say no-one will help you on your first asking of this question?
