XP security update

I recently installed the XP security update, and now Freelancer will crash mid game and cause my computer to reboot. I have had no problem playing online untill the update. I have no idea what could be wrong or how to fix it. Any suggestions?

The easyest, is to reinstall freelancer. Are you running Direct X9.0b? Some updates can change files hence the need to reinstall.

Thanks, but thats the first thing I tried, and the Microsoft support has been no help.

What about a clean install. Uninstall the game and delete the folder and then reinstall it. I have a lot of updates from MS, but none so far that hit the game.

Just re read your post. The secureity update may have closed a port the game was using. Have you checked the settings?
