Freelancer Crashes to desktop on New Game

I recently upgraded my machine and ever since then freelancer refuses to let me play online or offline.

What happens is the intro video's load fine, the main menu comes up and all the sound is working fine and the GFXs are also displaying right.

I click new game and the whole thing just dumps me back to my desktop, no error message or anything.

My new machine is:

P4 3.0 GZH
1 GIG of RAM
Geforce 4 4600 TI ( Same card that was in my old machine which ran FL )
Sound Blaster Audgy 1 card

I have tried the codec update thing but it doesn't help. Does anyone know what could be going wrong ?

Thanks

sounds like mine cep mine crashes when i try this excelata mod v2.00 (i know i spelled that wrong). have you tryed moveing all your freelancer saves into an diffrent folder or deleting them? also try to change some of the video settings around if you can get to the main menu and settings page. sorry thats all i can think of off hand but its all that i can think of right now, also these may not be whats causeing it. however its worth an shot, good luck.

try reinstalling the game and updating your video and sound card drivers. update the drivers first if that dont work then reinstall.

As this is a brand new computer it was a fresh install.

Now multiplayer works fine but single player still crashes as soon as I click new game.

I'm going to roll back some of my video drivers to see if they help, also I have hyperthreading on, has anyone had issues with this in the past ?

Also I noticed some jumpyness while in multiplayer, not network lag but a slight pause around ever second.

Ah fixed my problem thanks to warrior17

I finaly found some save games in my documents and deleted the freelancer folder and now it works fine. Found all the other Microsoft games that I'll never play again in there as well and freed up some space.

Now I can get back into freelancer again.
