Server Connection Problems

Hey guys

I am trying to my blinking copy of freelancer to work online. I had problems with it afew months ago and just left it, but now I want to get back to playing it.

What i am finding is that when i get the list of internet servers it does not prvide a ping or the number of players on the server. When I try to connect to a server it prompts saying "operation is taking longer than expected", and gives the option to cancel using escape. When i do this suddenly the server list starts to update with pings and player numbers. However agai nwhen I try to connect to a server say jolt I cannot get conected as it just appears with the same prmpt again.

I have tried turning down graphics acceleration and sound acceleration. This doesnt have any effect. I have disabled all my firewalls and allowed access to the ports required. I also updated system with all the latest drivers.

I am running a the following system:

Athlon XP 2700+ CPU
1GByte of RAM
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro
NForce 2 Chipset motherboard
Soundstorm onbard soundcard.
Windows XP SP1

Anyone have any ideas as to what may be the problem. Any help wouldbe appreciated.

Thanks

El

Have you tried the 1.1 patch? It is supposed to "fix" some problems with online play. It is strange that your pings to the servers appear to be timing out, but appear after you press "cancel". I would normally attribute such time outs to a blocked port ot subnet.
