Can''t connect to global server . . .

The place to ask for technical help with running the demo or the full game...

Can''t connect to global server . . .

We have a cable modem/router combo for our LAN and I'm not able to play online on one of the 'puters. I have FL running online on two other computers and they work fine.

I've also been able to get online FL with the particular computer previously.

All are running WinXP Pro SP1, they all connect thru the router to the cable modem.

I have net access on the 'puter in question, I'm connected to our LAN and can browse/be browsed by all other computers on the network.

I have a feeling it may be one or more services that I have disabled on this machine, but I can't pinpoint which one it might be.

Does anyone know which services need to be running for FL to work online? Or does anyone have any other ideas?

Also, I am able to play Quake 3, Unreal 2004 online from this same computer.

I had the same problem, and all it was i needed new modem drivers, and video card drivers. So give use windows update if your computer has it and get all the new drivers.

Not sure about the ports . . . don't know where to check that.

I'm assuming you're talking about the ports on the one machine in question and not the router/firewall? Since the other 2 puters connect with no problem I'm guessing it has something to do with the configuaration of the one computer in question.

Tried windows update and all I got was a black screen after it updated - had to restore last known good configuaration to get windows to boot again.

Sorry it took so long to reply - I was supposed to get an email when anyone replied but I never did.
