Frozen Ships - need fix

Mission 03: Entrance to Barrera Passage

After leaving Willard Station in the mission mentioned above, you run into 3 Rheinland ships. Your supposed to fight them, but nothing happens. Their frozen and neutral. Shooting at them doesn't help since you fail the mission for doing so! Does anyone have a fix for this problem/bug?
