One failed solution after another (re: Connecting to Global

Ok.. First off. I know this topic is almost a year old now, and people are undoubtedly getting tired of it, but I was finally able to get a copy of the game now that I have a machine capable of running it. Listed below are the possible solutions that I have tried already (all of which were found on these forums):

*Uninstall and re-install of Freelancer (Even went as far as to remove any straggling registry entries and files)
*Re-installing DX9.0b (people said something about DirectPlay9, but DX9.0b installs DP8, so I don't know what's up with that)
*Rolling back DX to XP minimum and reinstalling DX9 from the Freelancer CD (There is a working utility at guru3d.com that safely removes[95/98 or rolls back[2000/XP DirectX)
*Made sure all my drivers and firmware were up to date (Just in case, 'cause you never know)
*Inputting a server address manually using flipdirect.hta
*Disabling the unused PCI Fax/Modem in Device Manager (Thinking maybe it was trying to use that instead of the network adapter attached to the cable modem)
*Opened ports 2300-2400 in my software firewall (No flame wars about software please, but yes I use Black Ice and haven't had any problems to date.)
*Installing The All Seeing Eye (Which hasn't worked for me yet.)

If I've missed anything, please let me know, or post a link to such a thread.
The system I have running Freelancer is (and again, please no flamewars, this isn't about who has better hardware or your opinion of such):

Dell 4600
P4 2.6Ghz w/HT
512MB DDR Ram
nVidia Geforce FX 5200 128MB
SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 (Dell Digital hybrid)

Also I can post a copy of the DXDiag log if anyone so wishes.

Thank you ahead of time for your patience and understanding concerning this matter.

What is your connection to the net?

Connecting to the net via cable modem. I called my isp, and they said the ports were open on their end, so it's gotta be something on mine.

I'm just not familiar with BlackIce but if it's anything like Zone Alarm you'll need to let the executables act as server in the firewall.

I have app protection disabled, so in theory, BlackIce should only be blocking unrequested port probes from the net. At least I think that's how it works.
