ALOT of freelancer problems

Hi, I'm new here, on these forums but not to freelancer, I've had it since it came out. I played on it all the time back then, then got bored of it, but recently have come back for more armed with mods, but for some reason itvirtually never works anymore. I get a blue screen saying its 'dumping physical memory' which is quite scary so I have to restart, but sometimes after that I have to reinstall, as the game will never start (nothing to do with the auto-saves) But I was wandering what could cause this? As I've never had it before. My system spec is:

Windows XP Pro
80gb harddrive
128mb gforce 4400ti
1.7gb processor (AMD Athalon)

Also I have problems with mods activating sometimes, when installing the mod onto the Mod manager (9 beta) It says missing a file (don't remember what tho) and if that goes well sometimes when activating it (im talking about evolution 1.27) i get an error about not able to find formations.ini even tho its there, but sometimes it works, please tell me how i can solve this without reinstalling windows (windows is fully up to date with service packs)

for starters a physical memory dump is nothing to be 'scared' of all it is is winblows wrting whatever is in memory to a file on your hard disk (so you can -in my case- plow through 512 mb of data to see if anything went wrong somewhere)

As far as the blue screen occuring in most cases it is caused by a bad behaving dll or program causing a bad memory write (you can't map ring 0 memory
space to a ring 3 process without blue screening when the ring 0 process
writes to it and vice versa << if this goes over your head just ignore it)

If freelancer is the only program causing the blue screens there is a good chance it is corrupted somewhere and your best bet would be a complete fresh install of the game after wiping all traces of it of your machine including the registry entries . if there are other programs causing simmilar problems there is a chance your OS is corrupted in some form or fashion and you need to re-install it from scratch

I know you have to remove the refrigerator door when placing it at the curb , but then the neighbours kid would get away for sure , damn moral dillema's

Thanks for the reply, I will try that, does that include save games? That did go straight over my head, hehe!I'm not sure, I've only had the blue screen on Freelancer, even tho I get other problems with HALO, Cheers microsoft! And a few other games. It could be that I only just updated my system with the automatic updates recently, which has stopped the random restarts, but caused this...I'll try what you said anyway and post what happens, thanks again
