Global server down? Firewall software?

I have a firewall that you have to grant access to anything outgoing - only probs was that it didn't pop up over my game, so i sat there for ages. Unfort - i also couldn't use alt tab to go to desktop - i just poited mouse at right place, clicked and it worked. Check out your firewall security and ports etc

i have no firewall software
nor was the global serv down
since i tried it more than twice yesterday eve
and also a buddy of mine has the game and he could play trough a server found by the global server
tnx for trying but it wasn't that
i hope someone can tel what is wrong

i reinstalled & for once it gave me the list
i thought finaly it was solved, so i quitted & arranged al the things i was doing for homework so i could play, i started game again & no list ...
even after a secound reinstall , nothing

what version of DX do you have...?

1st where do you live 2nd if you have no rotter or firer wall (fire wall 90% u have if your running windows n you wont even no it)
then its a convig problem you might have to add some or your port is being used by another program n there is conflict

to answer the direct x question; i have latest dx so that should be the 9.0b

owkay now you mention about firewalls i am running win XP
so i heard there should be a build in firewall or so
but i dont know if its working or not & if so will there be problems if i turn it off?

i have the fire wall up on mine it does not effect the game on my end so dont if it affect you most likely there is a program that is inteferaning with it but if you want to shut it down n see its in net work in connection properteys advance tab
that might help but dont no for shure ( did you up date you windows max??)
in setting you need tcp/ip
file n printer sharing for sure or you can do like mine

(my settings try if all else fales)
client for microsoft networks
file n printer sharing for micrsorft networks (need for sure)
microsoft tcp/ip version 6 (better version of internet protocals)
nwlink netbois (for older programs)
nwlink ipx/spx/netbios compatible transport protocal (for older programs)
internet protocol tcp/ip (need for sure)

I've been playing onlne for a long time and now suddenly it won't connect to the global server... I don't think I've chaged anything recently.....

I've checked everything and made SURE all the ports are open... I've even stuck my computer on a DMZ but that didn't work...

k when you check your router port forwarding area look at what isp adress it has if you had a lock up to the internet or power falure some time comp changes it isp/or the router does but look at that n your comp isp adress n see if there the same if not look up 3 or 4 spot at my config of what my network is set at see if you have the 2 main ones n if not install or better yet install all the ones i have on my system it wont hurt your settings for anything justes uses what it told from program to use to run faster n smoother
