Video Card

FreeLancer (FL) used to work just fine for me until i installed the update formy graphics card. Then it wouldn't work so i uninstalled the new drivers and reinstalled the old ones. That was a Geforce4 mx420. It worked fine with that card the game recognized everything. Well now i have a Geforce FX5200 and when i start the game i get a warning- Freelancer does not recognize your sound card.. do you wish to continue yes or no. Pushing yes gives me a black frozen page. Nothing works computer freezes i have to reboot.

I have a p3 666 (or something like that)
80 gig hd
geforce fx 5200agp
896 meg of ram

So my system should be able to run the game. There is no update for freelancer that deals with video issues on the MS homepage for freelancer. So if anyone has any ideas lemme know.

I know this is terribly predictable but have you got DX9b? or just DX9?

EDIT: I have dx9 not 9b. Will this fix the problem?

REEDIT: I dled and installed 9xb That did not work. Any other ideas.

If your machine only has a processor in the 700Mhz range, you wont get any performance gain upgrading from a Geforce 4 to a Geforce FX. In fact you wont get any performance gain on anything faster than a G3, because your processor will retard the performance of the graphics card..........

You'd have been better off grabbing a cheap G3, because that would have been an upgrade from a G4MX, as it's DX8 compliant
