Freelancer works fine under Windows98. Have it running on a Win98 box, and a WinXP box.

You need to give some more info.. DirectX version, Vidcard, Soundcard, Processor, etc..

The Quality of the support you get is directly proportional to the amount of information you give...

It works just fine under Win98SE. Make sure everything is updated in the operating system.

LOL.. Same time posting.. And btw.. You don't have time to post here.. You have to get Elite up.. I'm having severe withdrawal symptoms....

Well I dunno... My comp is Pentium 4 1400mhz, Geforce FX 5200, 256mb SDRAM,
Integrated soundcard, DirectX9...

originally i had lots of probs with 98se and FL esp as regard sound. i fixed the sound eventually ran ok for a while then changed video cards and had more probs. i tried ME but that was worse! eventually I went to XP Pro and never looked back. seriously unless you need all that DOS compatibility for some reason, chuck 98 off and go to XP, you wont regret it.

The problem is the game starts black screen, and in the next second i'm out in the desktop. But I'm using XP now...

I hadthis, it's either DX issues (get DX9b) or you need to totally uninstall ur video card then reinstall from scratch. also if you dont have the correct sound codecs installed the game will refuse to play the opening movie and go black and dump u out to the desktop. u r going to have to try all 3!
