need more than just the hardware details to get an idea....

check the readme for freelancer, it has a list of non-compatible video cards and i think i saw yours there, but stiil check before you do anything. if it is not that, get direct x 9 and update your driver to the most recent version. also check the antialising settings, if they aren't on application controlled put it there. if you got a new driver, rollback to the previous one and see if it works. there is a driver called GeForce4 440 Go, that works well for windows xp. if all else fails get that.
