game hangs after the introduction movie

i tried skipping it, but the screen just freezes there. if i let it finish playing, the screen just goes blanks. in both cases i waited for 10 mins but nothing happened

It could be several things, but it's most probably video card issue...
If you could post your system specs, it would help greatly.
A few things: If you're using an ATi card, download the latest Catalyst drivers, and install 'em. If it doesn't help right away, turn the hardware acceleration down one notch.
If you're on a nVidia card, download Detonator drivers, ver. 43.45 (the best so far), uninstall the current drivers, and then install the new ones. This helps in 90% of the cases.

Careful what you wish... You might just get it.

i am using a voodoo 3 card. got all the latest drivers. first time i installed it played, a few months back, it worked perfectly well
after some time i uninstalled it and now when i want to play again i install and get this problem. nothing was change on my hardware since then. i have tried reinstalling all my drivers but it still doesnt help
