Ok ... need your help now with video problem

I have searched through the tech support forum and was not able to find my particular problem (of course, half the posts are titled "HELP ME NOW" or something as equally worthless).

I have lived with this situation as it only effected 1 out of every 10 "areas".

Now, it seems almost every area is effected.

In certain areas of the game, my screen is basically all one color. You can barely make out things on the screen. You can track things because they have the correct colored red and green boxes.

The easiest way to describe it: It looks like the contrast on the screen is all the way up.

I have two different PCs.

Windows 2000 Pro SP4
Windows XP Pro SP1

Both PCs have the following:

Pentium 4 - 1.8GHz
1GB Ram
SCSI disk subsystem
64MB nVidia GeForce MX400 using driver from 5/3/03 version 4.4.0.3

Any help would be appreciated. I have tried using different detail levels, different options on the video menu, different acceleration levels in the DX9. I have also attempted to use older drivers.

any help .. at all .. I am starting to have trouble in the game's missions because I can't see anything (like asteroids, mines, planets..)

It's a gamma correction issue with the GF cards... Set the gamma to 0.40 or higher, and everything should go back to normal.
If this doesn't help, try installing WHQL GF drivers. (they also have the gamma correction problem, but at a lower level, say .75 in windows, and .15 in game)

Careful what you wish... You might just get it.

Thank you for your prompt reply.

While it did not fix the issue, it did prompt me to open up my nVidia control panel.

At which point, I remember making adjustments several months ago to facilitate a much faster frame rate for my previous favorite game, Day of Defeat (Half Life mod).

I will post a possible fix thread for those who may be suffering from this issue and the gamma trick does not work (didn't work for me).
