Unable to read readme

Hi All,
I have just managed to get Freelancer to start ( Black screen problem at Start up) and I now find I cannot read the 'Readme' either via the CD or from Start/Programs/Freelancer etc. All I get is:- Freelancer\Readme.RTF is not a valid Win 32 application. After all the agro Ive had trying to get the darn game to load, this really is pushing me to the brink - what is the matter with this wretched game? Frustration relieved, can anyone explain what the problem is and how I can solve it.

Well, I think you are carrying a virus or your OS is WAY beyond repair.
For the first I suggest trying a system scan, for the second you must format and reinstall.

Ok, go to the readme file and change its name to anything else. ex. readme.rtf --> aaaaaa.rtf Ive had those type of error messages before with certain files on WInXP and a simple name change like that can fix it.

If you want, just email me and ill send you a working copy of the readme.

Thanks lads - unless of course your all sitting there with skirts on - Your replies jogged my memory because I now remember I deleted M S Wordpad which an RTF document after I installed Lotus WordPro to save HD space, so it just goes to show it dont always pay to be a clever clogs! In the meantime I would like to take Electric Brain up on his offer until I get Wordpad sorted. Thanks again.
