FL crash

Freelancer crashes after the end of the "sleepership" video as it starts to load the game, no error messages, nothing, it just crashes and hangs the system up with a gfx failure, I have to turn the pc off as everything is freezed.

But, when I activate a mod, everything works fine *hrmpf*, the problem there is, that I want to play MP and the servers I want to play on do not allow any mods...

My system
AMD Athlon xp2200+
512mb ddram
geforce4 ti4600 128mb
sb live, player 5.1

WinXP home sp1
directx9.0a
44.03 whql certified nvidia detonator driver

hope anyone can help as microsoft wont.

I have a similar problem(and system), except mine locks up before the first video for microsoft. I have checked newsgroups at google where many people have Freelancer problems with 44.03 and 43.45 detenator drivers but have worked fine or better at least, with 41.09. Go to this site for more info http://groups.google.com/groups?q=Freel ... gle+Search

Try removing the videos from the ini file. (This, however, borders on the mod area....)

The files are Windows Media Files...(Go figure...It's a Microsoft game...heheh)

You can just go into the freelancer.ini (//Freelancer/exe) and remove the lines about the intros...and see what happens.

Make sure you back up the file...just in case.

Something Awful

Those of you that are freezing up, make sure your systems are clocked down, make sure your registry files are optimized and clean. Plus make sure all of your background programs are not running. I am running an Asus 865, 2.4 gig drive, hyperthreading off, Geforce4TI 4200 running open GL only D3D is off in the DXDIAG. Mine hasnt crashed yet. Still going on. Now if it works and your systems dont crash that will save the fixers alot of time. Remember that applications that are running in the background also use memory addresses, and when one application hits the same memorly address another application is using, it will put your system into a hardlock. So all in all, try turning off overclocking and make sure your system has a clean and optimized registry. Also make sure the drive is properly defragged. Again I have had no lockups. Hopefully that will fix the freezing and lockup problem so atleast one of the issues are resolved. If it doesnt work, Well I tried..

Logic.....
