HEEEEEEEELLLLP! Please? Random Crashes

I have just bought freelancer ( on saturday ) and I installed it and everything and for a bit it was working just fine. Then maybe 2-3 hours after I started playing it, it started crashing. Now it crashes maybe 1-2 times an hour and in random places.

The crashes are either straight to the desktop or a sudden complete restart.

I really love the game that I have played so far and I would like to find out the problem quickly as I can take the game back within a short time.

I am running:

1600+ Athlon XP
512mb PC133 RAM
Radeon 8500
Soundblaster Live!
Windows XP Pro

I really don't want to take this game back as it is one of the best I have played in a long while.

Try disabling your SB Live! sound cards. See if that helps.

I also had exactly he same problem. Posted it here a few weeks ago. You should really try looking through old postings to avoid being flamed for not taking the time to find out for yourself rather than just asking everyone again. We do get bored of the same old questions.

In my case, it turned outto be a combination of things. The biggest single thing I did was swap my 512 unbranded with 512 Twinmos and put the unbranded in 2nd slot. I also upped the voltage to my mem by .2v in BIOS. Not really sure which one of these made the difference, but i think it was the first.

Cheers for the suggestions, have tried disabling the sblive. Didn't work.
What is a pb?

I checked through loads of crashes posts but none seemed to have my problem. Sorry if I missed some

I remember reading somewhere that you can have problems if you have more than one thing assigned to an IRQ number. Now I may have misremembered this as I don't really know much about computers . . . but I was looking around my comp and I have the radeon 8500, the via motherboard sound and the soundblaster live all on 11. Is that good? If not, how do I change it?

Or am I just talking crap?

Apart from the usual stuff like:

1. running the latest video drivers?
2. running the latest SB drivers?
3. running directX9?

Go to CNet (www.download.com) under utilities and optimizers, get PC Doctor Oncall and let it find the issue for you

Cheers...ReddeR

Honestly Dacone, all of the things you're suggesting and asking about have already been explained.

Yes you can try putting things on different IRQs, and yes this has been posted. The simplest way is to move the card to another slot. Try moving you SB Live! to another PCI, oh and if it's sharing the same IRQ as your AGP, then it's in the nearest slot to the AGP Right?

Spend some time reading the old post m8.

Waiting for games patch

( just freelancer crashing in my computer, all others games ( Microsoft, EA or Others ) are ok, no pb )...
