Serious loging in problem

This is my first post on these forums...

I just bought Freelancer I played the SP non-stop. ThenI visited some fansites and became rather interested in MP, so I started op freelancer clicked on MultiPlayer, click yes on the legal stuf, click ok for my personal code, and then I was there the server-board.
And then it happend...
HE CAN'T CONNECT TO THE "GLOBAL SERVER".
Well, he isn't realy saying that he can not connect but he's staying forever on "connecting to global server"
I have no idea what's causing this problem. I play many more games online(Rainbow,Flashpoint etc.) and don't have any problem with those.
I have no firewall or any kind of internet-security (I do have a router,though).

PLEASE HELP ME. MP LOOKS SO PROMISING!!!

I once had a problem like that, when I had a virus... it wouldn't connect to the global server, just say "connecting to global server" forever. It also wouldn't list any servers. That what the prob is?

the only thing I thought of was formatting, I needed to anyways (because of the virus) it fixed it.
