tried everything, sound still stuffed, please help!

I have tried everything to fix the sound problem, speech loss and sometimes engine noise loss, i have tried everything in "easier way to fix sound problems" and still no success. I have even removed DivX 3.11 and that didnt help either, i cannot install windows media player 9 due to i use win98, this is the list of my codecs:

Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 Codec (Professional)
Microsoft IMA ADPCM CODEC
Microsoft ADPCM CODEC
Microsoft GSM 6.10 Audio CODEC
Microsoft CCITT G.711 A-Law an u-law CODEC
DSP Group TrueSpeech(TM) Software CODEC
Lernout & Hauspie CODECs
Microsoft G.723.1 CODEC
Indeo(r) audio software
Windows Media Audio
Sipro Lab Telecom ACELP.net audio codec
Microsoft PCM Converter
Voxware Audio CODECs

(All codecs a listed in order an all are enabled)

Any help on this matter would be greately appreciated because there is no point player missions if you dont know why the hell you doing them because of no sound.

Yeah, A codec list is good, but you also need to post system specs.

If your sound card is an SB live get latest drivers and turn off the Midi.

If it's an Audigy, buy a different brand soundcard and use it for Freelancer.

Well i did have divx 5.0 but that didn't help so i uninstalled it along with divx 3.11 drivers, i also have a SB AWE32, ive never had problems with sound so i had no need to upgrade.

i resolved the issue by buying the SB Audigy
