Multiplayer Invalid Account ID

Every single multiplayer game I try to join goes to a window saying "The requested task is taking longer than expected" then after about 30 seconds, there is a message about 3 lines long saying something along the likes of "Sorry.... your account id or password is invalid. Trying entering it and try again."

I can try again and write the message down to tell you exactly what it says if you think you need to know.

HELP!

You have more then one network card in your PC? Read the readme.rtf.

Post Thu Apr 10, 2003 5:53 pm

The readme says I should try disabling a network card. Well right now I have 2 cards in but this was very recent. I have tried with only one network Card.

I am running DSL so I obviously have one network card in at all times.

When I run C&C Generals, I have to change my ip in the game options to be able to connect to the online server. I have to switch from one ip to another in order for it to work. In Freelancer, it doesn't allow you to select ip's in the options.

I don't know what to do.

Just for note if this helps in debugging, I have 2 network cards, patch cable between them to simulate a network (work quite well) when I am not at home, and both of them connected to the network when I am home, both are always on, and the connections are bridged. I am running XP PRO, have a dial-up 56K, and I can play multiplayer on network or internet(lag averages an awful 110-160ms) just fine. What is your setup?

All I know is that 'bridges' and 2 NIC's cause problems.

Post Fri Apr 11, 2003 5:07 pm

2 NICs. One is for my DSL modem, the other is to connect my dad's laptop.

Freelancer gets confused, not knowing which NIC to adress.

Then why is it, with one network card in there, it still says my account is invalid?

Post Sat Apr 12, 2003 4:10 am

I have the same problem but i reinstalled FL.(

Post Sat Apr 12, 2003 11:19 am

The game is very sensitive to this stuff but to my surprise works great when you do the right thing. My FL-server runs behind an ADSL Router/Switch and the outside world has no probs. The server is listed (sorry guys, password protected to keep the moddies out). And the good thing is, I connect with my 2.6P4 on a 100 Mbps and a ping of 2 ms ...

With an overclocked ATI Radeon 9500pro even 10 Sabres are no problem to play with.

What's a sabre?

So, let's say I have nothing but my one network card in my PC and the game still says my account id is invalid. What can I possibly do to solve this?

I do know I have to ip's when dialed up. One is my network card ip and the other is my isp ip.

What do I do if it still doesn't work?

I think that its not problem that u have 2 network cards. I have 1 card and i have that problem too.I bought new HDD and i installed new XP than i installed FL.I wrote my old ID.I connect normally to global servers but when i try connect to server i have that info too.But its weird because when i start my old HDD and
start FL everything is ok!!!I can connect to servers without any problems.I cant run my old HDD often because its broken (has some bad sectors). I tried installed FL with new ID but problem is still there.
