Crash when exiting FL ..

My comp crashes when I leave Freelancer. My desktop gets pixelated and I can't control anything - not even CTRL+ALT+DEL work when this happens. Game worked as supposed to in the beginning, and I think this began after I went on-line for some dogfightin' ..

Also I have serious problems with soundistortion caused by the combination of a VIA-chipset and a SB Live! (known problem - see link: http://www.georgebreese.com/net/software/ - go to ""PCI Latency" patch for VIA chipsets" paragraph) but I haven't been able to find a solution since this prog doesn't support my P4X400 yet .. but if any of you guys know something that I haven't figured out yet plz answer tread ! ..

Edit: Oops - as it turned out the prog worked anyway after a couple of reboots .. so no I have a nondistorted combination of a VIA-chipset and a Live! without messin' around with all sorts of drivers - highly recommendable !

Anyways - still need solution to crash problem .. so keep 'em comin'

If you have a VIA chipset, chances are you have an onboard sound card you aren't using. Enable it and set it to the default before you run Freelancer. All your troubles will go away.

Otherwise, download the latest drivers for your card, and follow the fixes in the sticky thread at the top of the page.

Hi guyz,

I have a similar problem. My computer doesn't hang but the desktop does get all pixelated (basically, its totally screwed )

The way to solve this particular problem is just to disable the Anti-Aliasing. (Set it to application-controlled)

Hope this helps, later dudes.

thx man .. I'll try that .. who would build a 3D-engine that doesn't support AntiAliasing anyways ?

I have the same exact problem and it just suddenly started. I've been trying to think of what has changed. My solution has been to put my computer to sleep and just immediately wake it up. Everything comes back to normal.

Goshawk. Excellent! I will try that. I just got a new GeForce 4 Ti4200 last week and everything was working fine. Then I increased my AA and filtering, and that's probably when it started happening. I really don't want to turn off AA since it looks really nice.

Hey! That did it. I turned AA off and game exit was smoooooth.

But I really want AA!!!! Oh well...
