Hey bud,

As a beta tester and general user of both Windows Me and Windows XP, you want Windows XP. Windows Me was such a lousy operating system, they stopped selling it on computers 9 months after its release. I believe Microsoft is already preparing to drop support for it.

If you have a half way decent computer, Windows XP will run far faster and MUCH more stabily. You will be happy. Microsoft recommends a reinstall every 6 months for Windwos 98 and Windows Me to keep the registry cleaned up! With Windows XP, no such worries.

If you have 256MB of RAM, XP will be totally smooth. With 128MB RAM its ok, but when playing games more is better. I have Windows XP installed on PIII 450 PCs and it runs great. When you through it on something newer, it smokes!

Good Luck DUDE!

macro id just like to say that xp sucks!!!
I bought a new mboard chip etc etc last october and of course xp....BIG FRIGGIN MISTAKE! After much of games not running right and programmes you want names well for games i couldnt get battlefield 1942 to run without crashing unreal tournie 2003 did the say but less frequent machine resetting...battle com for my counterstrike clan in the uk would give up all the time. Shall i go on?
Me and a techie friend tried everything possible then i rang my computer guy and he said try something please partion reformat and install "your old" OS Me and see what happens.........OMG NO PROBLEMS!!!!! so just to let you know if you go to our clan site at www.clang2g.co.uk and look at the amount of ppl saying XP sucks i cant be the only one i think different Os suit different machines in different specs im still on Me and am selling XP. Xp has one inherent problem that you will have to admit has and that is driver signing MICROSOFT DO YOU SELFS A FAVOUR AND REMOVE THESE STUPID driver signing from future Os's
Laters guys if somethings not broken DONT TRY TO FIX IT!

Remember, Windows XP taxes your hardware much more then Win98 or WinMe could ever dream of. That is probably the cause of your instability. I have all these games on multiple PCs running XP and never have any problems that aren't hardware or driver related.

Sorry to hear of your woes, but from an IT Support standpoint, XP rocks. Every PC and I mean EVERY PC I have installed WinXP on, I have never had to service. They just work (unless people mess around with them and put weird drivers on the puter or something). Since I deployed WinXP across my network my support time had dropped 90%. I don't call that a yukky OS. I call that a solid OS. I have been running games on it forever.

Don't believe all the bad press. Hardware is the key. Buy good hardware!

I installed XP about 2 weeks ago and today I am reformatting and going back to 2k. All XP has been for me is problems. Last night I went to install the 43.45 NVIDIA drivers and I did like NVIDIA suggests and uninstalled the old ones. My computer booted fine so I installed the new ones and it wouldn't boot! I never have liked XP and I've had it for 2 weeks and I'm already getting rid of it.
