MultiPlayer connection problems

Hello all,
I hope I'm not covering topics that have already been talked to death, but I'm having problems connecting to the global server and I'd really like to play MP. I have read through the forums (thoroughly I think) and have tried the following two suggestions already. I have reinstalled Dx 9.0a. I have rerun the dxdllreg.exe TWICE. Also, by using fldirectip.hta I have been able to see myself in the LAN severs window. I have tried to cnnect to the global server both with and without my software firewall operating, and have also tried to connect while functioning as DMZ host in the router. DMZ host causes all ports to be open at all times, and with both DMZ status and software firewall disabled, I still can't access global server. I can access a variety of other game servers (Renegade, UT2003, Battlenet, etc), so I know my internet connection is straight. Please, any more information you have is GREATLY appreciated.

BUMP. I'm sorry to have to bump this, but I am extremely upset about not being able to use the online features, as that was one of the main reasons I bought the game.

By any chance has anyone found out new information on this matter?

No, sorry... nothing new. I also reinstalled Windows and FL but still nothing works.

I think the central server is down.

That is all. And not good.

Ah well I hope the central server is down - I'll feel a whole lot better if it is!

Well thanks everyone for responding; its unfortunate that there hasn't been any more developements. I would like to add a few details; I can connect to the globel server on my wife's computer, and my friends, both of which are on the same network with the same router. From this I conclude that the global server is UP, and that my network is capable of finding it. Unfortunately it appears that the conflict is within my software. I'm thinking about emailing MS tech support, but I shudder to think how that will go . Anybody else with this problem or a solution, I await your email with bated breath!

I was having the same problem, not being able to connect to the master server but I realized I had DX 9.0 and not DX 9.0a. After installing 9.0a I was able to get online with no problems.

I know this is not everyone's problem, but it might be of help to some.

Strange that the install would not update my DX version?

directX 9.0 was also my problem when i installed 9.0a i could get online without any problems but i have to disable my router (cuz im playing on the server) or else it cant connect to the global server
