Connecting to global server...

I wanted to play MP the first time, but somehow he cant connect to the master server which sends me the server list.
why is that?
pls tell me, im desperate...:-(

i have the same problem. i know it doesn't just take a while (unless a while is over 1 hour) so what do we do?

Uhh i see. I have a P4 2,66 Ghz, 768 MB DDR RAM, GF4Ti4200, Sound on board, 80 GB HDD, ADSL 768 KBit connection.

Other stuff shouldnt interest you i think.

i hope you can help me now...

Do you have DirectX 9.0 installed? It is required for MP.

I got the same problem, with or without firewall, router or no router. No globallist All other mp games werk fine.

Relevant Specs:
WinXP with SP1 and Directx9.0
Gigabyte Mobo
256 MB Ram
866 Mhz CPU
Creative live!
Cable Internet

Yes i have DX9 installed. He still stops with "Connectiong to global server"...

Have you tried running DxDiag??? Maybe you have some errors in there. If you do another guy posted a fix for it. If errors show up on DxDiag reports then run the DxDllReg file or whatever it is.

He has ASDL So chances are he has a router or some sort of firewall blocking his connection to the server. Try opening up ports 2300-2400 in your firewall.

Also. reguardless of weather you have a firewall or not and reguardless of weather you have more than one computer hooked up to the net. You must have internet connection sharing enabled (and at least one shared folder) to connect to the master server. It even says so in the Freelancer docs.

If you can't connect to the master server one of these are your problem.
