freelancer blessing or curse?

Hi all,

I thought I would get a real good experience and my money's worth on this game......... and unfortunately it's so far from the truth........ it keeps crashing and fouling up........ I wonder even if microsoft really even took the effort working out the bugs with it b4 letting it out for the consumer market....... 3 years development or not. I guess they wanted to make the cash b4 this game goes past its generation.

Anyway, I think it's 50 bucks wasted...........I can't fix my crashes no matter what I do.

My 2 cents,
Dips

Tell us about your system first ... mayby we can help you.

Freelancer is running fine on every PC I know as long as it meets the game requirements.

Not on mine. Start was Ok, To finish mission 3 I must correct sound problems. Till the mission 3, there was not to much crashes (1 to 3 per hour). After mission 3 there was more and more crashes. I have problems to land on certain bases (crashes every time). I can't finish mission 5 (cant land in Cambridge). Crashes are random. The screen goes blank, then I hear the audio for a while and then the computer is dead. Windows 2000 or Windows XP is the same. Athlon 1.8 with Geforce Ti4200 and Epox motherboard with Ac 97 sound. I tried everything except Dx 9.0a, becouse i have no connection to internet.

Hmmmm right now for me, I have problems when I try to get thru the jump gate from New london to Cambridge in single player. Just a I'm about to exit to Cambridge the computer restarts.

I've reinstalled Freelancer many times, direct x 9, clean booted, etc etc etc.

I use P4 2.53 ghz, 256 meg ddr ram, msi geforce ti 4200 128 meg, erm, win xp home edition, I dunno what else I should put here, but any help would be appreciated.

Thank,
Dips

Oh I forgot, sound is onboard, but I put in my sound blaster live! card as well...... although I'm actually using the onboard sound...... so I thought that wouldn't be a huge problem as I'm actually not using creative.......

ewwwwww onboard sound,,, i have better results in every program using add-on sblive rather than onboard dodgyness

amazing as it sounds, the onboard gives better quality than the sound blaster!

There are a number of problems with the game.1 Attitude at Microsoft (Bad)
It is/will be an X-Box game and the software changeover will be CHEEP. These folks were to cheep to include a game play info card. What are talking about here
10 cents?! I read the the interview from the lead programer and he said there
is a tactial addvantage to be gained. What a Crock of *&!!##@!.My Wingman gives almost everything I need in close combat at my fingertips.
Then to make things even better for us theres that time lag in the mouse driver.
Ihavent seen this since the days of the 386 processors. Dont waste your money, send back to Microsoft and demand it back. Perhaps they might get the hint
