Still have crash issues (please read)

The place to ask for technical help with running the demo or the full game...

I disabled my Audigy and ran three tests... everytime I tried to exit the game it forced me to a blue pixalated screen. I believe it has something to do with DX9 rather then the soundcard. Some people also thing the Windows Service Pack may have something to do with this... is there any way to roll back DirectX?

Here is another possible fix: (But no way can I guarantee it as I can't even test it)

Did you install the creative playground app when you installed you soundcard? Creative Playground 3.0 it should be. If so, Get rid of it! Make sure you search your system for a file called gen_nomad.dll. (This file actually causes graphics problems even though it is a sound driver library) Get rid of all instances of this driver from your machine and remove all references to it from your registry (Please make backups first)

Reinstall your drivers and make sure Creative Playground does not get installed with them (Creative playground will install this driver if you let it get installed at all).

Also If you use Winamp and have the Mirc chat client, Look for the Mirc Winamp plugin file called gen_mircex.dll. This file causes problems with Audigy cards. Just deleting from your Winamp directory is enough to fix any problem associated with it. However, since this file is only loaded when Winamp is run, I cannot see how it would affect Freelancer.

It sucks that Creative decided to lump the Midi and wave output into one file.
That mere fact could be the scource of your problems and if that is true, your SOL with the Audigy card.

Many Motherboards have onboard soundcards mady by VIA on them. If you're MB is so equipped, Reinable the card and just make Freelancer use the onboard card.

Freelancer works wonderfully with VIA cards (For once the K-Mert grade product proves better than the Top of the Line product. Only on a computer this could happen)

One last thing. Somewhere in your cards control panel or in it's toys there is an option to disable the 3D engine in the card and force a CPU based wav-only output. Disableing the 3d Engine in another option, but at a reletive performance loss in Freelancer.

That's it for my ideas. If you cannot Fix your sound and you have no onboard cards. You will need to buy a new sound card (Not Creative Labs) just to get Freelancer to run. That is indeed a bummer.

Holy sh*t I think I fixed it!! All I did was change my res from 1024X786X36 to 1024X786X16 =) *knocks on wood* so far when I exit the game it doesn't crash anymore.... this is very exciting!

Actually does... you should be having more problems in 16 bit video than 32 bit video. However, if it works, That's great.
Plus, You have an Nvidia card that makes mine look lame and I have no problems w/ 32bit Video.

Me wonders....

Changing video to 16bit fixes a crash on a card with no real known problems or bugs.

Player owns soundcard that is known to interfere with video output...

Hmmm......

Hey People... If you have a SBlive or Audigy sound card, you may want to try reducing your video to 16 bit in game if all other fixes have failed.

It has worked so far for one person....

Good show, Judas.
