i have a system with win 2k pro serv. pack 3 geforce 2 mx 400 graphics card, sound blaster live 5.1 sound card. when i start the game, the screen turns black i can hear all the intro and menu sounds (the pc doesn't crash) but i can see any graphics. All of my drivers are up to date, and my system exceeds the minimum specifications. Please help me!!!!!!
Hi,
may be you installed the nimo codec pack. So good it is for viewing movies, so bad it is for Freelancer... Deinstall it and reinstall the original M$ Video Codecs delivered with the game (redist directory on CD). This should help.
May be the PC crashes on the second intro movie from Digital Anvil. Then this would also be the solution as it was for me.
Have a nice day...

Yea, I agree with the previous 2 posts. Some other things to consider:
Make sure the Direct X 9 is installed.
Try changing your resolution before going into the game (tweak down first, then increment up)
Make sure the "latest" video drivers means WHQL certified, NOT beta drivers.
Defrag the system (always wise)
Check on your virtual memory settings, make sure things are not out of range.
Check the refresh rate you've got the monitor set at. Don't go too high at the beginning.
Add some "Ad-aware" software and check out some of the bull-hockey that might be on your system. Search out, identify, and destroy.
Do a system virus scan (you never know).
Good luck, report back with any updates.

Right click desktop>>>Properties>>>Settings Tab>>>Advanced button>>>then click the tab with your GF card name>>>Direct 3D Settings>>>Make sure you check the box 'Enable Fog Emulation Table' That needs to be checked. Once you do that your game should look fine. I had the same problem also. GF4 Ti4400.
Thank you all guys..
I solved my problems
it was about my monitor's refresh rate is less than my graphics card.
The game starts 1024x768 with 70 or higher Hz and my monitor didn't support this rate i changed from Direct3D settings the refresh rate of the graphics card. Right now it works fine. I didn't need any uninstall or anything.
If someone has the same problem may be it help him or her a lot
