The place to ask for technical help with running the demo or the full game...

Is there ANY way to invert the mouse?

With other games in which there was no way to invert the mouse, there was usually a way to edit the config files so you could have inverted mouse.

I am an inverted mouse player!!! I have been for almost a decade and I can't take it!!!!

Pleeeeeeeeeeease someone tell me how!

Thanks ppl

No. Because inverting the mouse will screw up the flight-and-turret control systems. Inverting mouse will only work if the firing reticle is locked in the centre of the HUD, and guns fire co-axially with your ship (in other words, your ship's movement directs the guns' bearing) while in Freelancer, it's the other way around: the reticle is free-floating; your guns' bearing directs your ship's movement.

Anyway, welcome to the family, and I really hope you can get yourself used to this control method and squeeze maximum fun out of the game

Funny thing is, I always play FPS with inverse mouse and I had no problems adapting to FL control... Come to think of it, I've never had any trouble adapting to anything.

Oh boy I play way too many games... gotta stop... well maybe more FL; just to see juni again.

Technically, none of that is true. It might happen that way if the reversal was done in a higher level of the programs, however, if the reversal is done at a lower level then the difficulties do not occur. There would be no way for the algorithms to know of the reversal.
The reversed mouse would only be needed when in freeflight mode. The switch to freeflight would need to switch the mouse as well.
This could probably have been done easily when the systems were originally being written, but the cost now may be prohibitive.

why do you need to invert the mouse?

Post Tue Jun 03, 2003 10:12 pm

as i posted someplace else
in freelancer.exe exists a command/variable/switch called inverse mouse
maybe in mp you can enter this in sp you have no console as far as i know

i think that feature was taken out [but why ?

and for some really annoyed players this trick :

if you own a logitech mouse go to the mouse options and to orientation
theres you have to move the mouse to the top of the mousepad [normally
i havent tested this, but if you move the mouse to the bottom, it would work in fl

although then all other moving including windows is upside-down
hm playing windows like an inverted 3d-space sim ?
