*HELP NEEDED* Weird account ID problem

Well I haven't seen anyone with this problem, but I hope it won't be a new problem for anyone. Support from microsoft is hard to find on this matter so I'm addressing it here.

I don't have an Account ID; if I click the link "Examine my account ID" in the start menu it will say "My Freelancer MP Account ID <NOT FOUND>"
Reinstalled the game, still no ID was found. Anyone any clues?
I'm running on Windows 98 (XP crashed after a new MB IDE controller)

Or if anyone is about to reinstall and can give me a new ID. Thanx for any help on this topic!

The ID is usually created when you hit Multiplayer for the first time.

Yes some would expect that, but I was never able to join a server, as soon as I clicked multiplayer it would ask for an ID. I thought I had to create a account @ microsoft. Couldn't find anything there.

Well I can expect if one copied the game, the account wouldn't activate like a CD-key needed in Quake3 and sort of games. As I am the proud owner of both Starlancer AND Freelancer I am in the dark why my game won't generate an ID.

Could it be my system specs? Like 2 networkcards?
I have an ID now, borrowed from a friend, but the problem remains, I can't join his server... it will tell me account in use.

Two NICs can cause an issue, but I dont think in the creating ID area. Let me see if I can generate one for you on my other PC, if so, I'll email it to you.

I have the same problem and I'm also running win98. I think win98 is somkind incompatible with Freelancer

Can I also ask someone to send me an AccountID on my mail please. You can try to imagine how do i feel being unable to play MP

I have a few machines on win98, all work fine here. They are all setup to use Microsoft Family Login's for my networking.
