Ive said my piece, its stinger that refuses to discuss the shortcomings of the game and prefers to make simplistic statements. He couldve brought up the things they did right with the game. I was skeptical about the mouse/keyboard flight but i cant deny: they did a great job with that. Also, the graphics are very nice--though the voice acting in single player was downright awful. And, yes, I liked Juni's arse (it had a nice shake to it). The tons of trade items in the game is excellent as well as the idea that some of them decay in your cargo hold making how fast you get to your destination important. The map interface, the player set waypoints, the hidden jump holes, the ability to fly in formation--all good.

But unfortunately, there seems to be little replayability to the MP game. And that is a MAJOR flaw- and in the face of persistent world servers a total idiocy.

oh and did someone tell a joke?
oh that mustve been me. No wait, i didnt tell that joke about how I spent hours of my life being a moderator for a forum making tons of posts per day for a game thats only half a game. But your right, i should stop laughing at you now before your buddy locks this post or i get banned, not that i care if i get banned. Im not here to change his mind, i honestly dont care if he likes the game or not. Im just hoping someone will come in and read these posts before they go out and purchase this shovelware becuase its only good to buy after it hits the bargain bin.

Are you trying to get this thread locked or something? I still disagree with your opinions though.

hmmmm, perhaps i am.

As someone who plays on the same server as Ten, I agree with him (And we dont agree on much)

The multiplayer game was fun until it got to a point where we were all powerful. There is no point in continuing the same old trade runs, beating the same old hostiles, and taking missions that you could probably do with one hand tied behind your back.

I'm not saying this is the end, I'm sure some mods will turn up that may inject some more life into the game. But for a game that has been in development for so long, i was expecting so much more. A persistent world that doesnt evolve and change doesnt hold intrest to us.

Guys, it not our fault you don't like the game. Many of us on the other hand do like it. Stating our reasons only throws fire on the flames. I've seldom had anyoner I meet in MP go away unhappy. My wit and humor borders on legendary when it comes to the MP experience. I'm a living breathing "enhancer" to the game. I'm sorry your experiences have not been as pleasant, but they are not the final word either.

someone on this forum has an overdeveloped sense of ego, and either 2 blind eyes, or the brain of a chimp. im not sure which.

fellow decenters please try and keep this civil.(ya ya i know pot, kettle, black)
stinger says what he does because thats all he can say. you cant refute sound logic and reason.

he is hoping to turn this into a flame war so it can be locked and we all end up looking like we are out to ruin freelancer for the world.

i think it is important hat our views are heard, for 2 reasons.

1. maybe someone at microsoft will say "ak lets try and make it a better game so we can make more money" (ya i know ,not likley)

2. some other developer can say "hey look at all the stuff they did right, but all the stuff they did wrong is obscuring all that. lets do it ALL right!!!"

This is a fan site, not a piss and moan site. We're here because we enjoy talking about Freelancer. I'm not defending the game to you and anyone else that doesn't like it anymore. What would be the point in that discussion? People who like the game or have questions about it can come here and post all they want and walk away wanting to come back. No where does it say we are required to entertain the people that don't like the game. If so I'd love to be pointed to that link.

But since this is a fan site, I can disagree with you all I please so long as I stay within the rules and regs of this site just like everyone else.

If you don't like that I'm not engaging you in a useless conversation, then you're free to just move on to another part of the interent. We'll still be hear talking about Freelancer with or without you people that don't like the game.

I have to agree about one thing here: It's somewhat amusing to watch people whine about the shortcomings of a game that they got off a warez site somewhere. I mean... c'mon. Since you didn't spend a dime of your money, how can it be that bad? 30 hours of entertainment for free. Does it invalidate your opinion -- no. It definitely makes it hard to take seriously though.

Secondly, this game is easy if you make it easy. If you do the same tired diamond run, you'll make a ton of money fast, buy the best stuff -- end of game.

Personally, I've managed to milk almost 20 hours of gaming off the freakin' demo -- and still having a good time.

don't get me wrong, i do enjoy the mp aspect of the game, its fun. but i'm just concerned how long the fun will last without something changing. i mean all anybody is really doing now is running trading routes all day, which is fine if they enjoy it. i did it to until i could buy the ships i wanted and now i hunt the good guys since i've decided to become friendly with all the rogue groups. thats pretty fun, nothing like sitting out front of manhattan blowing things up for a while, or distrupting trade lanes and killing transports, nothing like see'n diamonds floating all over
i've pk'd a few people, but they just get mad. hmm.

i just think that without a goal to go for later the game will die off quickly, which would be a real shame, the mp has a lot of potential.

First off I’d like to say that Freelancer is a great game! It’s got a massive world and the game play is addictive, you can even host it yourself – all good …

But, as someone who has played multiplayer for a few days now, I too can already see that this game has many shortcomings. My top two problems are: repetition and too much money.

Repetition - sigh - If only the missions had some variety L Go shoot the bad guys gets boring very quickly, even when you are playing with your friends.
What about some missions like:

1. Protect freighter (well doh)
2. Passenger run (could drop then off on a planet or another ship as cargo)
3. Race against another pilot to point A (perhaps to pickup rare goods, ships would need different speeds…
4. Cargo run, get to point A in X minutes
5. Take photos of enemy base
6. etc… None of these ideas are really original

Adding some destroyable bases would go a long way too…
I think repetition would also be cut down if you had the chance to start a game as any one of the many factions (yes the mod’ers are at it) that way it would be good vs evil players.

Money - What makes it so easy to make money in freelancer is doing the trade runs. All you need to do is find one that’s reasonably safe and you’re set. You just go back and forth between the bases and the prices of the goods never change – how funny is that? Surely if you hauled 1000s of X item to a base then sale price would drastically drop and you would have to find another route, doesn’t that make sense? I also think the trade runs are too easy because of the ship speeds all being equal. This unbalances the game, as a freighter you can do the same speed as the fastest fighters, which is crazy, the smallest fighters should be the fastest. Then all the freighters would need is escorts…

Its interesting to see how many people have abandoned freelancer all together, the X2 forum is full of ex-freelancers, http://www.egosoft.com/x2/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4239 this is not a good thing. Im too scared to look at the Edenonline one. Someone – please, please fix this game, please… Or at least release the tools so the community can easily modify freelancer.

Sorry Stinger I can understand that you want people to embrace this game and not run from it, but people need to know what the game is really like. If us the customers don’t stamp our feet and say ‘I’m not buying this game because of…’ then DA/MS wont bother to improve the product with a patch or add-on. Surely you want the ‘best’ freelancer you can get, right? For me the best freelancer would have more than a weeks worth of game play (especially after all the years of production)

(yip, piss and moan I know, and yes its my first post too, have to start somewhere you know…

MHW, just like others before you, I just don't agree with your opinions.

Hey, play it like an open-ended like it is suppose to be played. In multi, play with other people for the fun of it, and when you feel you have gotten too strong, it's time to start a new character. Take on a different role, such as pirate, line hacker, etc. instead of the easy roles of cargo ship driver. Create challenges for yourself.

P.S.
in my opinion, cargo trading broke the game for powergamers

stinger, small problem here, some points are facts. not an opionen.
that kinda would screw you, if you would care, but you show a ignorance that would be worth a ms employe (or ea if that matters)

I always had the feeling that fansites are about "their" game, that they would care about the game, and would try to make it a better game, instead of just brabbling "its a good game, its a good game, its a good game, I can´t hear you, its a good game"

sure its a good game, and now its already boring for a good amount of ppl,
kinda sick. so instead jelling at everyone "thats your opionen" I disagree, you maybe should start to talk withthem about "why its so boring already for you" and "how can we change this"

what I really wonder, why it seems that not a single beta tester actually kick the devs in their ass to stop them doing such a mess in the long-term and high-end playing.

more words from the misinformed I fear....

Apocalypse, how it is possible for a person to expound on a subject without the slightest idea of what they are talking about? Say it for what it is...assumptions and opinions. That's all they'll ever be. You're not that different, so therefore, I do not agree with your opinions either.

Come back when you can state the facts, not your interpretation of them....there's just so much you don't know about the testing process it's laughable to those that were there in the trenches. instead of jumping the gun, why not try asking first?

Again, I'm not going to defend the game against the people that come on here to only bash the game. I have no concept of why someone would come into the FAN SITE and just go off bashing the theme of the very site they post their opinions too. No concept, and no patience.
