clan forum?

i think it would be a good idea to make a clan forum, so people could promote their clans when the game comes out, this has been done on other forums too, and it worked well.. then the multiplayer forum wont be filled with clan promotions and stuff. whattya think>?

Let's see if the use of "clans" and the support of them by the server toys will accomidate first. Hate to have a clan established with no home.

well, couldn'T a fleet (clan) just pick a system on server elite and establish it as "home" and start defending it + trading in that system?

@ Guibs. The idea is sound, no doubt about that, however you have to remember that the ELITE server and most other large servers out there will only be able to support around 45 - 60 people at one time. Nothing worse than calling the fleet to battle to defend your own planet/system only to find that 2 of your 20 pilots can get into the server! See my point?

I had made a forum regarding having the ELITE closed to the public, making it TLR regulars only...and I belive that an open server would be better...or I had thought that. Now I cant see anyway round ALL the regulars meeting online at the same time in game UNLESS IT IS PASSWORDED ! Or at least closed to the public in a couple of days a week.

Now Im sure you all think I'm being presumptious beliving that I would be included in the TLR clan, seeing as I only found this group a few weeks ago, and I dont belive I will be allowed in but in the true spirit of an online gamer having a closed server would be best even if I cant get in.

Your thoughts?

The Elite server will be open to all....all the time.

There are other potential servers out there that have the capacity to be large as well. Last night I saw one that could easy have 20-30 people on it with no problems given there posted specks.

What would be nice is to have some sort of ability for all the server admins to share information that could affect each others..I can think of several possibilities that could become an issue and that could spread to other servers. Knowing it's out there before you see it would beneift every server admin.

true, although wouldn't there be any computer AI spaceship in that corner of the galaxy who will try to defend their territory? Of course, it wouldn't be much fun to have a band of pirate to attack one of liberty's planet or station if there aren't human defending it.

Although, if we go on, these events could be planned. I mean, if TLR regular's all choose a faction(group or clan), we could organised "RPG" event, where let say pirate group will try to attack liberty station 9. Of course, lag issue could be a problem, so those events could be plan with a number of specific players involved.

I don't know what tools the admin will have in their hand, if they will be capable to run a "story" within the game. We could easily make one without any modification to the game and just play according to what we want to do, while respecting the rules and universe already establish in the game.

As for Password protected server, I am not necessarly against it, and it could be great indeed to insure that TLR regulars are sure to join, but I'd be the first one to be sad about it if I were not to be considered worthy enough to get the password.

Also, let say you are a regular, but you log on the server and there are only like 5 people playing. If the server was open, it could free some space for other players to play on the server.

Now that I think about it, maybe we could put a password on busy hours or when there are official TLR events happening on the server and remove the password on off hours times ?
