Will Roger Wilco be possible?????

Will Roger Wilco or another voice communication system be possible. It be nice to have that extra icing on the cake.

We were going to test that but ran out of time. It does take resources to run, so that might impact the performance of the game a little. Ther's no reason why it wouldn't work in theory.

Most games do not support voice comms programs specifically, but there should be no reason why it wouldn't work.

Isnt Roger Wilco just a separate prog that runs beside the game? Shouldnt it work for all games?

theoretically yes, but i have had problems with it in the past where it wouldn't work for Freespace 2

Post Sun Feb 09, 2003 2:36 am

I thought Freespace 2 had its own voice com?

I'm almost positive that roger wilco will work in coordination with ANY game you're running...UNLESS you are simultaneously running a Voice Over Network option in the game. Sound Cards have issues with sharing routing assignments.

Hi all, I been having similar thoughts on voice coms as it definitely adds to the online gaming experience.I have run roger wilco and gamevoice on starlancer without any problems - roger wilco is def better on 56k connections where as gamevoice has far better sound quality - and I would have thought a base station run by tlr with password given out by invitation would be great. There is a team roger wilco add on that allows the assigning of channels so if peeps are grouped or want to be associated with groups like pirates or bounty hunters they could then be put into the appropiate channel so that everyones voice don't conflict with the possibility of 60 peeps all trying ot speak at once Another voice program worth testing that has the ability built in to assign channels is teamspeak.

just my 2 cents

Agreed Harb, I use Teamspeak in Tribes 2 - multichannel - works great....free too
