Problem: Every name I try is "already in use" on m

Hi, I just tried to create a character on my own LAN server, but for every name I try, I get the message that it is "already in use" on the server...

There is no mod active, and I just did a clean install (with FreelancerSDK 1.5b on top)

It's a long time I used FLServer, but it always was an easy thing... Anyone have any idea?

(Btw, I *did* use the search function but didn't find the answer)

Seems I solved in, in a probably crude & clumsy way: I deleted the contents of

C:\Documents and Settings\ (localname)\My Documents\My Games\Freelancer\Accts\MultiPlayer

and that helped... But what if if I'd been hosting a server?

What makes a server 'blocked' (all possible player names "already in use" ) anyway?

ya, that was the clumsy fix

for some reason, FL does not give you this error message, but it is the correct advise(i've only encountered it in my modding newcharacter.ini, it takes a certain error to bring it up,and the more common false nick collisions don't)
FL will say something like 'please contact your system administrator about refreshing accounts.cfg'
this means,delete accounts.cfg because it has bad/out of date info,and restart flserver.exe *thanks to TheJkWhoSaysNi(Tom) for brainstorming this fix, he thought of it when i was stuck on the error*

what causes it: accounts.cfg holds info on ship,faction,loadout,pilots,server info,etc.
when newcharacter.ini is in some way different from the last time accounts.cfg was refreshed (with the exception of faction/pilot), flserver cannot create new pilots(unsure why, but it has to have something to do with verifying pilot selections for secure & stable operation)
