MP saved charaters

hi,

I would like to be able to play FL MP from my machine at home during week days and my mates machine at weekends, how can I import my charaters from computer A to computer B?

Thank you

This is going to depend on what server you play on and how accommodating the server’s admin is.

There is no way for you to do it, it has to be done on the server side and it is a bit of a pain to do so.

Contact the servers admin and talk to them about it, but most likely the answer is going to be create a character on each computer and play which ever is at hand.

or you could take you hard drive and put it in his computer and try and run off that?

install FL on your mates PC but when you first go online change the User ID number at that point to the one on your pc, that is unless your mate already has an account then you would have to share.

Or if technically minded copy the registery key for FL on your pc and make a backup of his and swap them about, that will entale editing them for the game locations though, so if you have to ask how to do it then don't bother as you can do more harm than good not knowing. So just make a new account with your mates FL install.

There is no need for talking to server admins, switching hard drives or manipulating the registry.

The multiplayer ID is unique to the Windows account on a PC. This means that every user on a PC can have his own set of multiplayer characters (and BTW also his own savegames, gamesettings, etc.).

The steps to "copy" the accounts from PC 1 to PC 2 without destroying any existing accounts on PC 2 are:

1. On PC 1, press the Start button in the systray. Go to Programs\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\Examine My Account ID.

2. Write down the multiplayer ID.
(Do not bother to copy the ID to a mail as you will not be able to paste it into the game on PC 2 anyway).

3. On PC 2, create a new Windows user and login as this user.

4. Start Freelancer, choose Multiplayer and click your way through the screens until you reach the Multiplayer ID screen.

5. Type the Multiplayer ID you got from PC 1.
(Yes, TYPE ... pasting with Ctrl-V is not possible for some reason)

You will now have access to your existing accounts on the Freelancer servers from both PC 1 and PC 2. However, the "Visited" column in the server list is unique to each PC/user so you will have to remember which servers you have visited.
