"????" system

I was playing online and found that this guy's system in the chat window showed up as "????". He was an alternate account of the admin, so is it an ability they have to hide their system?

You known, I cant say I've played on-line, but maybe he just hasnt logged into the game yet... This could be possible right

He was probably in the character selection screen, when you hit F1 and then select new character.

For a character to show up in the game he must log on and load a character. If you go back to the F1 screen and remain there, eventually your location is replaced with ????.

Used to be a standard trick when players wanted to reserve a slot on a full server but not get any messages. Being in the F1 screen lets others know they cannot receive them.

???? either means the players is ideling on the server or that the server has a client side mod that you dont have

Some servers have an admin mod with an admin system, this syetm can be used to allow the admins to move from 1 place to another quickly

He is maybe using a mod that is allowed on that server and you do not have. Thats a possiblity or maybe he is an admin and he is just in an admin system you are unaware of, btw if he is in an admin system thats a mod too.

It's simple. The ??? names are either ships, or systems who are modded or just don't have the proper .xml or .dll work. It's also possible that you're on a modded server and you don't have the mod running.

he is in of the "unknown" systems in the borderworlds, i wont say more as it might be a spoiler to some of you.

I almost had a chance to be a admin on 1 server and now I am 1 and i was on a unknown system but it just said unknown

The two systems in the borderworlds are named "Unknown". They are NOT the "????" thing you see. I'll not go into detail on what's inside the unknowns, it's a spoiler.

Ok guys on this one of the previous posters was right. It appears when you have f1'ed out and are in the character selection screen. That is what it is plain and simple.
