Console Commands

Console Commands

I have often wondered about the presence of the console. It is used by SAs to send those annoying messages to us every 5 minutes, but other then for psuedo-spam, what could be its purpose?

Later, I found a server that allowed restart options (start out 'lancing for a faction), which required console commands to start. So it seems that the console is used for the traditional purpose of sending data directly to the server, but outside of custom modded servers, are there any commands (defaults) that will work?? For example, could you use the console to trade with someone out of scanner range, or to invite someone out of range to your group??

To solve this problem for all of the pondering FL afficionados out there, could someone post a list that lists the commands (and their function) for the default install of FLserver to this forum?

Hoping to Ponder no More,
VrmlBasic

P ost S criptum: Stingant, I did consult the readme on the FL cd before posting this. In addition, I searched the forum, and the results were less than satisfactory. So with the new wealth of information available to the communty, I would like to submit this request for the seemingly-arcane in the hopes that it will be sufficiently answered. I also hope that contributors will take into account new discoveries in FL when posting their insight, and leave out the very critical and o-so cynical quippits.

I recently discovered an ioncross consle command for invite
to group it is /invite playername
I wonder if this could be done with trading

"I like liberty rogues, they make a funny little popping sound when they die"
10 points to whoever guess what I messed with for that

There are only these known commands built in tio FLserver via the console.

/invite name <- case sensitive so you can remote invite someone in different system, note same issues for invite apply they cant be on a mission and the Origional Group inviter has to invite for them to see the group chat and map.

/leave quits from a group

/u message if you have a admin file in your players folder on a server then you can send a Universe message, handy when you in the server and want to let everyone know warning of a player for pvp restrictions / server lag info requests etc.

Well, i don´t understand this /u thing.
I am running a Server, using Ioncross. I tried to write with /u TEXT, but I only write to the System. Perhaps you could explain that?
By the way, does anyone know, what can do, to make Ioncross sending my Banners?
When I try to, it only opens the Chat-Window of FL-Server.

Perhaps someone could help me.

Excuse my bad english.

Ähm, thx, but can you tell me, what file i have to put in?
And how do I know, which folder is mine?

Do i only have to make a file named "Admin" with the Editor?

View the folder in explorer / right click / choose to make a new file, any type will do / name it without and extension thats it.

So the console allows remote grouping? Ok, that's progress. Now, is remote trading (with or without) console useage available, and if not, can it be added server-side?

Thanks again, but it still doesn´t work.

Perhaps I´m making something wrong. But theres one thing, i dont understand.
my folders are this ones:

MyGames/Freelancer/accts/Multiplayer
In the folder Multiplayer there are the account-folders of my users. But where have I to put the admin-file in?
I tried at home, with only my account in the Multiplayer folder. Then I made a file named admin with the editor in my accountfolder, but it still doesn´t work.

Please help ;-)

Remote grouping has been around since the beginning of FL......
Remote trading will not work though.....you can do it with a command...I believe it is /u playername but they have to be in sight and within 2k I think still. The problem with remote trading would be 2 players get at 2 different bases...ruiz and camb research and start trading alien orgs....and what do you know...in 2 hours they have more money than anyone else.........

also if you are running FLAC as well on the server there are a few other commands.....
/s text will allow you send something out in system chat even if you have someone elses name hilighted.

You may try to just try every command on the KB......I remember there being several others but none of the others seemed of very good use to me. Most of the commands are not necessarily console commands but can be made at any prompt.

@sammy find YOUIR character folder and pout it in that eg: \My Documents\My Games\Freelancer\Accts\23-c1b46f4b so it is put in the 23-c1b46f4b folder.

You can find the Folder name from IFSO by viewing one of your characters in the View player option and in there open the View file tab

Or from FLAC connection logs

or lastly from the FLserver console

@Pinger, thank you for your help.
I tried what you said, but it still didn´t work.
But someone told me, that this is, because I have a german version of Windows, and it only would work with a Northamerikan Version.

But it is great, that noobs like me can get so much help here ;-)

@Pinger

I found my folder and tried several files, but nothing happened :-(
I wonder if I may ask you, if you perhaps could send me the file, because thats the only thing, what I could make wrong.
Perhaps you could be so kind, and send me the correct file with an e-mail?

If not, thx a lot for your try ;-)
