I do not think it would be that great, beacouse most people would just join Outcasts or Corsairs. I bet that Liberty Navy would be empty, LOL! So i do not like the idea very much.

Maybe a server a friend of mine resets i'll make it as this idea says!

I like onions! Do you?

ok this would be a good idea and as u see from my signature i am the leader of New Dawn Gaming i could use a few peoples help but i think we could do this i would need

the person who thought of this
the person who thought of the team chooser
some ship packs and help from some others at least 3 others
and we could have this done within a few months, maybe some testers but i believe we could do this

About all a server can do in the case is enforce a total RP rule, where the whole server is under RP, no player can claim not to be in this atmosphere. It eliminates a lot of other rules that would need to be placed into the server setup and everyone would eventually learn it as this way.

While although making a mod to conform to specific factions isn't really idealistic because of the constraints and the headaches, even the possibility that the game mechanics won't allow some things.......to achieve players playing factions isn't too difficult if they want to do it.

I know that on my server, most of the players have taken up the roles of NPC factions and they RP under their own tags, but clearly state that they are playing as whichever faction. We've also just created a mod where the ship flying mechanics have changed to more realistic (rather than this stop on a dime in space stuff)......and where clans (or very rich individuals) have the choice of adding to their claimed territories by "exploring" new systems, "upgrading" for better hardware for the NPC's and themselves (from weapons to ship experimentation), buying pretty much anything available in the game from JH's to Terraformed planets. It is a patch based system where we upgrade the map and systems as needed per patches once a month (if anyone gets anything done).

I know there was a post somewhere on here where players were looking for some of this, whilst players on our server were looking for the same things. We've decided to give it a try and see how things go.

So yea in a way there is a server out "there" that does practice what some of you are looking for.......but it may not live up to expectations because there is only so much you can mod into the game.

i really like your idea, you have a great imagination and i would love to play on one of these servers.
I myself cannot set it up but i would like it if someone (maybe using a server operator made this)

what im thinking is that you meen that everyone starts out it whatever way they want
is that right? or do you meen that you work your way there?

i feel complled to point out, that because there is no friction in space, ships can 'turn on a dime'. In fact on the spot. In fact freelancers physics are pretty good. If only the ending was :p

You could just have the new player starting in a neutral system then its up to them to go to the faction of their choice.
If you set the empathy between the groups to be highly negative they would be forced to fight only for that faction. You could take away the bribing ability from the mbase entries so they can`t just pay 150k and join another group.
If you keep all of the corporations allied together then that would make it a better offer for traders.
You could give the anubis to liberty, with a few tweeks it can match any ship not in the edge worlds.
Can you add to scanning for cargo to include equipment, say for example a corsair powerplant?
Rhineland Navy "Hand over your cargo of your corsair powerplant"
Corsair (legionnaire) "Errr.. I can`t .. and I won`t anyway"
.... Starts the combat regardless of faction rep..
I know that you can add the missile and mine ammo to the scanning list, maybe you could add a server police as a neutral faction who scan for weapons that are too high for the system and are considered contraband. They would need to be armed with weapons strong enough to take on the strongest edgeworld ships.
Well, its just afew ideas, I hope that u found something usefull..

Someone just needs to make a mod that evens all the factions out. I think an early version of evolutions did it, or something, but that would solve A LOT. By the way, an Evolutions rpg server would be great.
