Freelancer and Firewire

So I just got one of my friends hooked on Freelancer. He's been playing for awhile, and after getting tired of me bragging of my 1337 skillz (though I think it's really not bragging if you're talking about something you can actually do ), he decided he wanted to play me, 1 on 1. For various reasons which I won't go into detail with, playing over the internet and a traditional ethernet LAN are out of the question. Our only choice for a network is an old-fashioned Firewire cable. The only networking protocol supported by firewire, however, is TCP/IP. Besides that, it's known that not a lot of games are stable over firewire networks. Does Freelancer support this protocol? Can anyone confirm that Freelancer will play MP over Firewire? Anyone willing to help has my gratitude!

Freelancer MP engine uses UDP/IP protocol, so if your connection supports IP and UDP you can play it on whatever kind of network you may want.

If you have more then one IP connection enabled using -s option on the client computer might help see detailed how-to on freelancer CD readme.htm or an example here.
Hope this helps.
