FLServer crashing

FLServer crashing

When the server crashes (from a person who crashed the server, not my internet connection going down or anything), FLServer freezes rather than just closing. The same goes with maintenence, When the server attempts to shut down, it freezes, not closing down on its own. Why is this and what can I do to fix it? I need the program to be able to close on its own so that IFSO can restart it automatically.

Sounds like you have a corrupt character, so if that player joins in that character then the server crashes. So find it and delete it.

No this happens even when I casually close the server while nobody is on it. That screen comes up that says "please wait while the server shuts down" and FLServer freezes at that point.

Also, on another server, the admin has said that FLServer closes automatically when somebody crashes the server on him.

Could this be a problem from my computer's end? if so how the heck do I fix it?

Well I haven't heard of this problem directly. Likely it's on your end. It might be flserver itself or the associated software (mostly DirectX). Are you running anything else like admin programs? Is there any other software running? You would be amazed at the interactions that happen behind the scenes but are not obvious on the surface.

When all else fails, start reinstalling FL, DirectX and even the OS. To do this would depend on how badly you want a FL server.

Well, I run the freeworlds server named Alexandus' Free Worlds Server, and the only problem is a noob who comes on and goes to the cluster, which is a group of connected stations that when you go near it, the server crashes. The next release is going to fix that and there should be no crashes, so hopefully ocne 1.64 comes out I wont have to worry about this...ever again
