New Server coming up, which server-side MODs should I use?

I was thinking of these:

- Chips Server Operator MOD
To set up encounters, unlock systems, etc.

- Real Space Lite v1.0
Just for me when I play!

- IONCROSS Freelancer Server Operator
To keep out the nasties!

Any others you can think of?

This server will be hosted by me on the following spec:
- P4 2.4 GHz Processor
- 512 MB-RAM
- 20GB HDD
- 128MB Graphics Card
- 576Kb/sec ADSL connection

What would be the maximum amount of players I could have? I was thinking maybe 24, or 32 at the most, otherwise the lag would be too much if I let on many more!

Here's the rules:
- No PvP in New York
- No Nomad Weapons whatsoever may be used in combat, to give people a chance! If you are found to possess these weapons, you will be kicked for 'cheating'

If you want to start somewhere other than New York, you may select from the following with the codes as the subject followed by "Request for Server" and e-mail me at [email protected]:
__ LibRog = A Liberty Rogue on Buffalo Base, New York with a Bloodhound and Rogue weapons
__ LanHac = A Lane Hacker on Mactan Base, Magellan with a Dagger and Hacker weapons
__ Xeno = A Xeno on Ouray Base, Colorado with a Hawk and Xeno weapons
__ Outcas = An Outcast on Alcatraz Depot, California with a Dagger and Outcast weapons
__ Corsai = A Corsair on Trafalgar Base, New London with a Legionnaire and Corsair weapons
__ Molly = A Molly on Arranmore Base, Dublin with a Bloodhound and Molly weapons
__ Gaian = A Gaian on Islay Base, Edinburgh with a Hawk and Gaian weapons
__ RedHes = A Red Hessian on Vogtland Base, Dresden with a Stilleto and Hessian weapons
__ BouHun = A Bounty Hunter on Deshima Station, Shikoku with a Piranha and Bounty Hunter weapons
__ Bundsc = A Bundschuh on Bruchsal Base, Frankfurt with a Hawk and Bundschuh weapons

Yes I know Outcast and Corsair are spelt wrong in the subject, but these are only abbreviations for the Subject line!

The server will be up some time in the near future, and I'll keep you posted when it's up and running...

Regards,

Dale

UK dsl so maximum 16 players on a standard server, less on a modded BS encounter rich server.

Also the server needs more ram, 512 will Do but 1 gig is better

im not working ATM so i'm stuck with that spec! would running other things on the server PC lag it bad?

As a personal request, could you pleasepleasepleaseplease provide a level 2 (Frost-Works) server? The current one is on back-up and highly unstable. Contact Ripperman for the nessecary server files if you wanna set up a level 2 server.

If you don't wanna it's ok too, but I just had to ask

Edit: Damn spelling.

On any single cpu server running anything in the background other than FLadmin and or IFSO will steal cpu cycles so adds to server load and eventually lag.

Best thing for a FL server is:

1. a clean install of windows
2. FL
3. IFSO
4. FLadmin
5. FLstats
6. Nothing else running except a firewall especially if your doing Player IP blocks/bans. So no virus scanner etc, those you scan the server pc remotely via lan. But being a server you shouldn't be putting files on it that often so a virus shouldn't be an issue.

the thing is is that my pc is on a LAN, and the internet connection is shared! My dad runs a karaoke file sharing program. which will be on the dedicated server downstairs, and my PC will be upstairs with FLServer, FLSO, and FLAdmin running, that's it! I could play on my own server couldn't I?

Oh yeah, and what port(s) do I need to open on the firewall to allow acess to the server?

@Nickless - That's a cracking idea! I love the MOD, and will DEFINITELY consider running a Level 2 server!

Cardamine, if you don't use the /P switch with flserver you must open the UDP port range 2302-2304.
