Ok I cant answer them all but I'll do my best,

To change the starting money either use Chips server opp mod or edit the mpnewcharacter.fl file found in the exe folder of the freelancer install folder.
In that file you will find a line near the top saying Money = %%%% Change this to whatever sum you want e.g. Money = 10000 (dont use commas) Save the file and your done.

When you say it flicks off, do you mean it minimses to the task bar when it brodcasts banners and other messages, because if thats what u mean, its normal.

I havnt founf away to keep the server open on the task bar yet, but I don have an idea for you: (if you have windows xp)

Create another user account called server.
log on to this account and switch the server on
log off and on to your normal account and work normally
Then the server will carryin on running on the other account and it wont get in your way.

Hope this helps, e-mail me at the mercenary navy if you dont understand what i have said

You don't stop being a LAN server. If you have a LAN between your 'puter and your modem then your server is ALSO a LAN server.

If you are talking about not wanting to see your server as a LAN server in the global server list, why? You actually WANT it to be a LAN server because when you play you will play through the LAN which is far faster than most Internet connections are. If your own server says Internet then you must go twice through your Internet connection to get to your own server! I could be wrong but why worry about it when a LAN connection is almost always faster? IMHO
