i've been on the a1 server for a couple days now. great server (if you don't mind a random crash-i played for 3.5 hours one night and it crashed 3 times (not a huge deal though), awesome new ships (i love the sirius freighter!), cool new commodoties (with adjusted prices to boot), and all new weapons, replacing the originals.
some of the people i've met so far have been pretty cool, especially one guy named red eagle. he gave me a 20 mil. loan to get me started out
. he led me into darkspace, then he told me where to find a good freighter. after buying it (2mil), i loaded up on gold (1000unitsx1000$=10,000,000), then headed out. i had 8mil left on me, and gave it to eagle, saying i would repay the balance when we got back to mannhattan (they buy gold there for $2,000!). he told me to keep 5mil for myself and just give him 7mil (cool guy
).
alas, trouble reared its ugly head, in the form of the sirius police. one of them, sirius police-3, started screaming at me as soon as i got back into new york that i was cheating, and would be banned from the server. on taking the loan, my level went from 1 to 13. he interpreted that as cheating. but, when i explained to him that i had accepted a loan, he kept yelling that i had to give it all back, and then pay out 3 mil to him as a fine.
WHAT THE HELL IS THAT BULLS%&* ABOUT?
last i heard, online play had to do at least partly with getting your level up as high as you can. also, last i heard, it was perfectly fine to give someone a loan. i've accepted loans, and i've given them out. it is totally up to the person giving the loan on how much to give. as far as i'm concerned, all that sirius-3 needed to know was that i took a loan. the rest should have been none of his business.
another thing. i did read the server rules on the a1 website, especially the rules on running contraband. if i remember it correctly, the rules state that if challenged by the sirius police while carrying contraband, you have the option of dropping cargo, running, or trying to fight your way free. what i learned from sirius-3 was vastly different...if caught, you face a $50,000 fine (collectable anytime), and if you even attempt to run or fight, "then the rest of the sirius police will come after you and kill you everywhere and everytime." his words.
now, is this the actual stance of the server, or the statement of an individual abusing his authority?
don't misunderstand me, as i actually do enjoy playing on the a1 server. i did'nt post this to sound like i'm whining, i just want to know how fair all of that sounded.
