What are the Most Popular Mods for Multiplayer

I've been out of the FreeLancer scene for a while but I have some free time now and was woundering if everyone still finds the origional version entertaining or are there mods that dominate the Multiplayer servers. I'm always some what sceptical of early mods due to, one just the sheer number of them to choose from "It could take months just downloading them all", or compatibility issues. I was just curious to see what the majority prefers. I was leaning towards one of the expantion types "Adding addition planets/ships ect" , but I would rather download one I know will be played online by more than just a few people. If any one has any favorites Please do tell.

ThankYou,

Out of the 54 servers in Global Player Rankings, 11 are running the TNG mod, while 36 are running without any mod at all.

The TNG 1.7 mod, played on the Norwegian Heaven Server is, I think, as good as modded Freelancer gets. There are rarely less than 40 people on the server, a good clan following, races, etc.

Another good ‘up-and-coming’ mod is the Evolutions mod by Chips, a site regular here on TLR.

Both mods are available for download from this site, and you need the latest beta release of Freelancer Mod Manager for Evolutions, that is also in the download section of this site.

Thankyou very much for the information I will have to look into TNG 1.7 , I was on earlier last night and I noticed it doesnt seem to be as popular as when I first bought the game. It seems all the servers I had once played on have faded to black as their name still shows up but with the ever present ??? marks next to the ping. Hopfully their will be some more big mods that will capture the masses and breath new life into multiplayer. If ever a game cried out Expantion Pack it was this one, but considering the source and the length of time it took for it to finally release I expect we may see a manned mission to Pluto first. Thanx again for the info I'll test out TNG this weekend and let ya know how it goes =)
