Open SP 1.1 MOD

What is this Open SP 1.1 MOD do? I thought it let you use single player characters online but it doesn't seem to do that. I activated the mod under the freelancer mod manager that I downloaded. can anyone tell me what this MOD does?

It lets you skip the sp story. Even the first missions before Juni unlocks the Jumpgates. You just start with a starflier and 2k like you would in mp mode.
