A few questions about multiplayer (please move this to the s
Hi, I'm going to have a LAN soon in which I'll be hosting a server, and I have a few questions about multiplayer. Feel free to point me to an FAQ if it better answers some of my questions... I haven't yet found one that answers my questions though:
1) What items can be traded/gifted between players (if any), and how is this done? It would be nice to be able to, say, have a heavy fighter escort a freighter, then split the profits afterwards.
2) Does anyone have any useful advice on running a server? Assume everyone can be trusted not to cheat etc.
3) How much CPU,RAM,etc. do you think it would take to run a server (and play at the same time) of about 6 people.
4) Would 14 hours (guess-timate) be enough time for a reasonable multiplayer game? How about 21 hours? (the former case would be a 2 day LAN, the latter is 3 days).
5) In what significant (and non-obvious) ways does a multiplayer game differ from a single player game... besides the absence of single player missions of course.
6) What happens when you die in multiplayer, do you have to start again from scratch?
I may have more questions later, but thanks to anyone who can give some help here.
There are 2 kinds of people in the world: morons who have the 'binary and non-binary people' signature and those who don't.
