beginning credits (money)

hi. i'm not sure if i'm in the right forum for this question or not, so if i'm not please forgive me.
i noticed on several servers that when you join the server for the first time it starts you off with a large amount of credits such a 1,000,000,000. i was thinking of starting up a server and would like to be able to start those joining for first time with a large amount of credits. could someone please tell me how this is done or if it is a mod used and if so the name of the mod? thank you kindly in advance.

Key up a search for "starting money" in the general editing and tutorial forums. Pick whichever one helps you the best, since there's more than one way to mod your starting creds.

Goto the Freelacer EXE folder and open up mpnewcharacter.fl with Notepad and change:

money = %%MONEY%%

to

money = 50000

That will make 50.000 the starting amount

See Captain Tylor's tutorial in the Freelancer Editing Tutorial Forum. It and other tutorials tells you all sorts of ways to mess around with MP files.

Yeah, I have been wondering about this mysterious "Search" function too...I guess you just have to click "View topics from last 2 years" and search manually...

The whole point of the game is to earn money/advance levels the hard way. If ya start with 50 million, why bother playing?
